We are a family unit of mum, dad, grandma and 8-year-old son, and had two adjacent rooms. We have just had a fantastic two week stay in this hotel and I've already been telling everyone who will listen that they should go there. However, the Aminess Maestral in Novigrad has made us revisit this opinion. We rarely stay in hotels, preferring the self-catering option, as on the occasions we have stayed in hotels we have found them to be expensive for the quality of stay. One very disappointed son when he discovered that there wasn’t one.… My son is basketball mad and I chose this hotel on the basis that he’d be able to play.

My only other criticism is that the hotel listing on the TUI website states there’s a basketball court - there isn’t. Croatia is such a beautiful country - very relaxed and feels just like things did back in 2019. We also booked a night kayaking adventure through Pula Outdoor - the best experience we have all ever had!! An absolute must!! All in all we had the most wonderful time. Head south to check out Poreć, Rovinj and Pula as they’re all stunning. We hired a car for a couple of days which I’d highly recommend. Lovely selection of shops and cafes/restaurants with some great photo opps. Novigrad is a beautiful little village only a 15 minute walk away. Outside of the hotel though, everything is much cheaper so we did get out to explore as much as possible. Only being half board meant that we spent an awful lot on food and drink. I’ve never been anywhere where the tonic costs more than the gin!! £5 for premium tonic £4 for gin! It really did ramp up the price of the holiday which when booking, I thought was very reasonable. Which leads me nicely onto prices - we found it to be very expensive for food and drink in the hotel. Sunbeds are also not included here - it costs approx £20 a day for 4 and a parasol. Be aware it’s a stony beach so bring or be prepared to buy beach shoes. However it’s a short walk to a very beautiful beach area which we spent the most time at. The main pool is a little on the small side we thought for such a big hotel.

However the salad bar was always excellent as a back up. My daughter is vegetarian and found that some nights there were limited options for her. We were half board which I think is the only option (no all inclusive available) The main restaurant serves a wide range of different cuisines with lots of choice for breakfast and dinner. The hotel is spotlessly clean, well looked after and run by an excellent and very friendly team. Just back from a wonderful 10 night stay with my husband and two teenagers. A doctor's surgery is just 300 metres away from the Hotel and can be useful should you travel with children or groups of youths. On the other hand, only 800 meters divides it from the picturesque small town of Novigrad, tickling every curious guest by different summer events, inviting him for an occasional outing to the town. Since it is only 150 metres away from the sea, Maestral will particularly suit those who wish to spend every moment of their holiday on the beach, using their holiday for swimming, sunbathing and water sports. The sign of bike-hotel points the guest to the stay in a hotel which is additionally equipped to welcome cyclists and is, beside other things, ideal for stays by smaller or larger groups of cyclists, as a starting point of their cyclist trail throughout Istria. With 308-room capacity, abundant hotel facilities, vicinity of the beach for daily enjoyment of sea and sun, as well as the vicinity of Novigrad for evening outings and relaxation, Hotel Maestral will delight you. Unimposing, but well-appointed, Hotel Maestral puts the accent on simple enjoyment. Our 4-star hotel, grown on the tradition of Istrian hospitality, offers modern outlook on the Mediterranean.
